How Dewhurst.tech handles personal data. Last updated 5 August 2026.
The short version. Browsing this site collects no personal data at all. The only place personal data is collected is the Value & ROI Calculator, and only if you choose to export a case. If you do, a copy of that case — including the name, company and email you entered — is emailed to you and retained by Dewhurst.tech. It is not sold, not shared, and not used for anything beyond that case without your consent. Ask for it to be deleted and it will be.
Dewhurst.tech is the independent practice of Steve Smith, based in the United Kingdom. For anything in this notice, including a request to see or delete your data, contact steve@dewhurst.tech.
Nothing personal. This site uses GoatCounter, a privacy-friendly analytics tool that sets no cookies and does not track individuals across sites. It records which page was viewed, roughly when, the country, the referring site and the browser type. It does not record who you are, and there is no way to work that out from what it collects.
If you email steve@dewhurst.tech, that correspondence is held in a Google Workspace mailbox for as long as it is useful, in the ordinary way that business correspondence is.
The calculator runs entirely inside your own browser. As you fill it in, nothing is transmitted anywhere — not the figures, not your details. Nothing is stored on your device either; close the tab and it is gone.
This changes only at the moment you choose to export a case as a PDF, JSON or CSV. At that point the completed case is sent, by email, to two places: to the address you entered, and to Dewhurst.tech. The page tells you this before you press the button.
What is included in that copy:
Please note that the figures you enter may include commercially sensitive information about your organisation. Enter only what you are comfortable sharing.
| What | Why | Lawful basis (UK GDPR) |
|---|---|---|
| Your copy of the report | To deliver the export you asked for | Performance of a request you made |
| The copy retained by Dewhurst.tech | To understand what practitioners are trying to build a case for, and to improve the tool. This is the stated basis on which the tool is free to use. | Legitimate interests — disclosed clearly before you export, so you can decide not to |
| Contacting you about your case | Only if you ticked the box asking for it | Consent, which you can withdraw at any time |
Two suppliers are involved, both acting on instruction and neither using the data for their own purposes:
Analytics are provided by GoatCounter, which holds no personal data. Data may be processed outside the UK by the suppliers above, under the safeguards their standard terms provide.
A retained case is kept for as long as it is useful to the conversation it belongs to, and reviewed at least annually. Where there is no live conversation, cases are deleted after two years. Deleting the email deletes the record — there is no other copy.
Under UK data protection law you may ask for a copy of what is held about you, ask for it to be corrected, ask for it to be deleted, object to its being held, or withdraw consent to being contacted. Email steve@dewhurst.tech and it will be actioned within one month, normally far sooner. There is no charge and no form to fill in.
If you are not satisfied with the response, you may complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office, the UK supervisory authority.
This site sets no cookies — which is why there is no cookie banner. The analytics are cookieless by design.
